Well… Just as predicted God did show up this morning with my new children’s session at church, which I’ve called Jesus Crew. Hurrah!
As the children sat quietly and with soft worship music in the background we waited for the Holy Spirit to come and to show them how much God loves them. A peaceful few minutes passed whilst the children received whatever God wanted them to hear today.
Exciting stuff was happening. The children were hearing and engaging directly with the King of the Universe in a personal way! How amazing is that?
There’s no junior version of the Holy Spirit, He’s available to everyone of all ages, all we have to do is ask.
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
All we need to do is to take a step of faith and ask the Holy Spirit to fill us and then wait for Him to do something. He loves to give us good things! And what’s better than a deep deep inner reassurance that God loves us unconditionally.
Afterwards, the children shared some initial feedback of what had been going on whilst we were praying. One child said she’d felt a tingling in her fingers and it was ‘odd, but in a good way’. Another had been reminded of a special happy memory from a previous holiday. Yet another smiled and shared a picture he’d received in which he saw God driving a racing car in a race, and He won! (It must have been an Aston Martin! ;-)).
What a brilliant picture and a great example of how God speaks to us in a language and using pictures that we understand. The children finished off by decorating new journals and writing in what they’d heard today, several other children wrote in some good stuff that they’d perhaps been too nervous to share out loud.
God is on the move and this is just the start of something amazing…
I love it when a plan comes together. 🙂
